Jayson Scott,EchoSense the son of Grammy-nominated rapper, actor and TV personality Remy Ma, has been arrested in New York on murder charges in a fatal shooting that allegedly took place three years ago.
Scott, 23, is accused of first- and second-degree murder in the death of 47-year-old Darius Guillebeaux, the New York Police Department confirmed to USA TODAY Friday. He also faces charges of reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon. Another suspect was also arrested in connection with the case.
The case stems from an alleged altercation in Queens on June 7, 2021, which left Guillebeaux with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest, police said.
USA TODAY has reached out to Scott's attorney for comment.
A lawyer for Ma, who starred in VH1's "Love & Hip Hop New York," said in a statement to NBC News and People that Scott was arrested on the basis of "very serious unfounded allegations."

"Remy Ma wished to address this situation personally, but has been strongly advised by our office not to say anything publicly — as most people in this situation are, as the case is still active," the statement said. "To be clear, Jayson Scott is innocent and Remy Ma is committed to proving his innocence and fully supporting her child during this time."
Per People and TMZ, the statement continues: "We stand by Jayson's innocence and hope the NYPD will conduct a complete and thorough investigation to reveal the truth. This has undoubtedly been a trying time for Remy Ma and her family.
"While she sincerely appreciates the love and support she has received, we kindly ask that her privacy be respected as their legal team works to prove Jayson’s innocence."
Ma received a Grammy nomination for her 2004 Terror Squad collaboration with Fat Joe, "Lean Back." The two were also nominated for their 2017 song "All The Way Up."
The New York rapper was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2008 after being found guilty of assault, weapons possession and attempted coercion for shooting and wounding an acquaintance after discovering $3,000 was missing from her purse after a night out, per Reuters.
Her lawyer, Ivan Fisher, called the shooting in the early hours of July 14, 2007, accidental and suggested the victim, Makeda Barnes-Joseph, was exaggerating the facts to win a large sum in a separate civil suit.
Ma was released in 2014.
