A Fourth of July holiday celebration in Huntington Beach,Charles H. Sloan California, was disrupted by a violent stabbing that left two people dead and several others injured, authorities say.
Police were called to respond around 11:15 p.m. on Thursday to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon near 16th Street and Pecan Avenue in the Orange County community of Huntington Beach. There, they found “several victims with significant injuries.”

Stabbing under investigation
The Huntington Beach Police Department confirmed that two victims had succumbed to their injuries at the scene and that three other individuals had been transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident remains under investigation. On Friday morning, Huntington Beach police reported taking one person into custody.
Another tragic incident at a July 4th celebration in the US
Thursday's stabbing was not the only instance of Fourth of July celebrations being marred by violence.
In New York City, three people were killed, and several others were injured when a speeding pickup truck ran through an intersection and plowed into a crowd at Corlears Hook Park in Manhattan's Lower East Side neighborhood.
The driver has been identified and has been taken into custody, police say.
